Parish Life

September 1st is the beginning of the Ecclesiastical or Church year-a prayerful time of rededication in fulfilling God's work through His Church.

Now that summer is coming to a close the activities of our Church will begin in earnest once again. As we begin the new Ecclesiastical year, let us involve ourselves with renewed enthusiasm, vigor and vitality in all aspects of the life in our Church. You will find that special place where you can help the most. Perhaps you might seek to be on the Parish Council to help meet the administrative needs of our Church. Or, maybe in the Sunday School teaching our beloved children their Orthodox Faith. The Youth Group is constantly in need of dedicated enthusiastic adults. Of course, our Philoptochos could always use more hands in its philanthropic and charitable work. Our choir is also on the lookout for talented members to enhance its overall quality. And, certainly there is need for qualified people in Greek School.

This fall, our Bible Study Group will continue to provide a greater insight into our faith and deeper understanding of our responsibilities to God and His church. There are many cultural and social activities throughout the year in which volunteer help is needed. A new well-stocked Orthodox bookstore has been established to enrich our faith and knowledge. Wherever your interests lie, there is room for you. We have need for your talents, abilities and time in the overall ministry of our Church.

Don't wait to be asked-come offer your services. We need the richness, solidarity and strength of all our families. If you are reading this Newsletter, then we are referring to you and your family members.

The Church is not only a place where you give your service, but in a much greater sense, it is that place where life is enriched and fortified. It is a place where you exchange your love and service with our Christian brothers and sisters and reap the blessings of our heavenly Father, w no lovingly guides all our footsteps.

Join us this new Ecclesiastical year as St. Nicholas again opens the doors of our Faith anew proclaiming and sharing Christ's teachings about life with brothers and sisters everywhere. Feel the enthusiasm that permeates the hallways of our Church. Become that special part of a dedicated Christian life at St. Nicholas and share in this exchange of service and love.
